Do you know when it was raised to $100,000? 19-freaking-80! According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Inflation Calculator, $100,000 dollars today is equal to $37,610.80. The FDIC amount in 1980 before the Deposit Institutions Deregulation and Monetary Control Act of 1980 - $40,000.
